What if I cannot attend the voting location on Voting Day?

If you cannot attend your voting location to cast your vote on the day of the election, you have two options:

1.       The Township will be holding an Advanced Voting Day on October 17, 2026 at the Norwich Community Centre at 53 Stover Street S., Norwich. Electors from all Wards can vote at this location on Advanced Voting Day.

Advance voting starts at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m.

2.       If, for any reason, you will be unable to personally cast your ballot, you may appoint someone to go to the voting place and cast a ballot on your behalf. This person is called you voting proxy.

To appoint a voting proxy, you must fill out two copies of the Appointment for Voting Proxy Form (Form 3) and give the copies to the person that you are appointing as your proxy.

See the 2026 Voters' Guide - Ontario Municipal Council and School Board Elections document for more information on proxy voting.

Eligible voters can register or update their information online through the Province of Ontario at RegisterToVoteON.ca. Voters may also update their information during the voter revision period.

The official Elector List for Municipal and School Board Elections is maintained by Elections Ontario and anyone can check to see if they are on the list, or update their information, by visiting the Elections Ontario website Voter Registration page at  https://vreg.registertovoteon.ca/.

Once this list is delivered to the Township (August 14, 2026) you can contact the Township to see if you are on the list.

On Voting Day, eligible electors who are not on the official Elector List will have to go to their voting location and complete the required form to have their name added to the Elector List. Once this is completed you will be given a ballot by the Election Official.

Please make sure you bring valid identification.

The list of candidates is updated as nominations are received by the Township. The list is posted on the Township’s election website, as well as on the bulletin board located in the front lobby of the Township Administration Office at 285767 Airport Road.

The official list of candidates will be certified after Nomination Day.

Nomination Day is the last day a nomination for the election can be filed with the Clerk. It will take place on August 21, 2026. Nominations can be filed from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. After 2:00 p.m., no more nominations will be received by the Township and the list of candidates will be certified by the Clerk.
